Aydin Teker
AKABI

  • Wed 26.11.08 20 h

The choreographer and dancer Aydin Teker is a unique pioneering figure in the Turkish contemporary dance scene. In ›aKabi‹, an abbreviation of the Turkish word for ›shoe‹, four dancers appear on stage wearing shoes mounted on large blocks which force them to move cautiously and in unfamiliar ways. The special poetry of the work develops from interplay between weight and lightness, power and artistry. Initially setting out to explore balance and symmetry, limits and possibilities, ›aKabi‹ is an extremely rigorous work of stunning sculptural beauty and arresting expression.
