There are exciting topics worth reporting on not only in the wider world but also right on your own doorstep. But how do you identify them? And how can you research stories in your local environment and prepare them for journalistic purposes?
In the two-day workshop you’ll get to work on topics that really interest you! You'll roam the neighborhood, observe, research, capture sound bites from your surroundings and produce your first podcast episodes.
The workshop will be led by two journalists from the CORRECTIV youth editorial office Salon5. On April 7 there will also be additional input from the artist Axel Braun who approaches landscapes, urban space and infrastructures from photographic and artistic perspectives. It will
quickly become apparent that there are multiple viewpoints on every topic!
The workshop is aimed at young people between the ages of 13 and 18. Previous journalistic experience is not required. If it sounds like something for you register to take par at Salon5@correctiv.org

Über Salon5:
Salon5 ist die Jugendredaktion des Recherchenetzwerkes CORRECTIV (Essen/Berlin). Von Bottrop ausgehend, baut Salon5 ein Netzwerk an Kooperationspartner:innen in ganz Deutschland auf. Über die Einrichtung von Jugendredaktionen soll Spaß und Engagement am journalistischen Arbeiten und am kritischen Recherchieren gefördert werden. Jugendliche sollen erfahren, dass sie aktiv sein können, dass sie gehört und wahrgenommen werden.
Salon5 baut in Bottrop seit März 2020 eine Jugendredaktion mit einem eigenen Webradio auf. Inzwischen sind etwa 30 Jugendliche an dem partizipativen Projekt beteiligt, recherchieren und berichten zu virulenten, aktuellen Themen, die in ihrem Alltag eine Rolle spielen.
Mit den Jugendlichen gemeinsam wird ein Ort der Zusammenkunft aufgebaut, in dem sie über für sie relevante Themen sprechen und zu diesen Themen recherchieren, debattieren und diskutieren können.
