Digital season opening: ›Open Day‹ with online programme for the whole family

As no PACT ›Open Day‹ would be the same without the chance for the whole family to join in exciting craft or dance activities, we have some familiar friends and faces lined up to join you in your homes. The sensational balloon artist, Hakan Eren, will lead a workshop showing you how to knot and bring your own amazing comic figures or balloon costumes to life; our friend Clara Gsella (KonTakt) will introduce you to colourful handicraft ideas and Eloisa Mirabassi, well known to many young dance friends from the PACT Café, will have a dance and movement workshop in store for you.

Guest Fellows

Meet our Guest Fellows!

Artists have and continue to be affected, often existentially, by the corona crisis while, at the same time, their ability to interpret complex social contexts in open, critical and interdisciplinary forms grows in importance. In response to the challenges and constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic, PACT has created 16 new Guest Fellowships alongside its established long-term Fellowship Programme. These fellowship awards are not project specific or commission based, but rather aimed principally at enabling the recipient artists to continue with their current work and research and to build new networks.

Fellowship Programme

Through its Fellowship Programme 2020, PACT supports artists who significantly engage with complex social issues and use art to voice and impact on them. Three individual fellowships in 2020 enable teams of artists, activists, philosophers and technology experts, to connect and work in temporary research communities.

IMPACT20 – Planetary Alliances

As a scientific and artistic think-tank, IMPACT20 criss-crosses perspectives from biotechnology, natural science, philosophy and contemporary art: Lars Blank, Rosi Braidotti and Johannes Paul Raether reflect on the relativities, metabolisms and relationships between the elements and protagonists of our world and how these impact on ecological, social, economic and technological developments in a community. How can new alliances that no longer place humankind at the centre of perception, shape and define new models of societies?

1/2/8 Forschungsfestival

In Spring 2017, PACT launched 1/2/8, a new, central and long-term research and development format with a special focus on the connection between knowledge and actions. The format offers substantial time and space for practices of cooperation between people, objects, space, technology and experimentation.

Urban Space

The PACT Café is staying connected with you: PACT’s bright and spacious foyer, which is normally a popular meeting place for families from all over Essen on Wednesday afternoons, has now become the backdrop for an online edition of the PACT Café. Members of the PACT Café team will read to you from their favourite children's books. In this way, we hope to bring a small piece of PACT Café atmosphere to your home and still spend some quality time together, even if we are physically separated.
