Alonso Alarcón
Dancer and choreographer, originally from Veracruz, México started his career in 1987 as a folklore dancer and then studied contemporary dance at Veracruz University. He danced with the Veracruz University company and choreographed for the young folklore dance company "Salvador Diaz Miron" from 1998-2000. Since April 2000 he directs and choreographs for Ángulo Alterno Danza for which he has developed 6 productions in collaboration with cultural institutions in Mexico such as CONACULTA-FONCA and Veracruz State Government. He was awarded the UNAM'99 prize for neo-classic choreography and first place at the fourth choreographic competition Guillermina Bravo in 2002. He has performed at major festivals and theatres in México and internationally at venues including the Joyce SoHo in New York and the tanzhaus nrw in Germany. In México, he worked with companies including Contradanza, Bajo Luz, el Circo Contemporaneo and Quiatora Monorriel. He currently lives in Cologne.
