Andrea Catania Gonzalez
... was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. She began dancing at the age of six and attended the Abend Dance School and the Contemporary School in Costa Rica before moving to Europe to study as a guest student at the Area Institute in Barcelona and at l'Esquisse, CNDC in Angers. In 2002 she graduated with a dance degree from the Folkwang Academy in Essen. In 1999 she founded the Arrendajos Dance Company and made her own first choreographies including "Arrendajos" and "De lejos". These were followed by "Veneras" (2001), "Lakrimoza" (2002) and "Azular" (2002). In 2002 she presented her solo "Nosepuede" at the VII International Contemporary Dance Festival of Canarias, Masdanza in Spain where she was nominated as the "most outstanding dancer" and awarded a grant to study for a year at Espacio in Madrid.
