Cantori di Carpino
Antonio Piccinino, born in 1916, and Antonio Maccerone, born in 1920, come from the small village of Carpino which is now widely identified with the rebirth of the traditional popular music of the Gargano region of Italy. The historian, ethnologist and musician, Ernesto De Martino (after whom the Instituto de Martino, which documents Italian oral culture and traditional music, was named) discovered the two musicians and has since promoted their careers.
