Florencia Chaves-Gonzàlez
Dancer, teacher and choreographerBorn in Costa Rica. Started her dance career in 1974. In 1985 she attended courses with visiting maestro Hans Züllig, who became a fundamental figure in her technical formation. Since 1988, and while concurrently working as a dance teacher, Florencia worked as solo dancer for Costa Rica's major dance companies, Danza Universitaria and Danza Lostenmedium. In 2000, she started her independent career as a dancer and also made some excursions into choreography, performance and experimental video creation. In 2001 she was guest dancer at Joachim Schlömer's company with which she performed at the Salzburg Festival (Austria) and in 2002 she toured abroad as a solo dancer to festivals such as the Odense performance festival (Denmark). Along with Rodolfo Seas, Florencia founded the -donde una vez estuve- independent dance company. Currently both artists are working on their project Segundo round in residency at PACT Zollverein. Rodolfo is working on choreography, Florencia on direction for this latest piece. Segundo round is planned to tour through Central America.
