Odete
Odete’s multidisciplinary works combine music, DJing, texts, performance and the visual arts. Their musical creativity, which is decidedly autobiographical, also attempts to reappraise the body through abstraction. This can be heard on Odete’s first album ‘Matrafona’. From the experiences of these sound collages, which revealed that music can work as a political tool, another publication emerged: ›Amarração‹. Odete’s DJ sets create soundscapes, which might consist, for example, of the background noises from a funeral recorded on a smartphone mixed with samples of things being destroyed and with beats that traverse the history of queer music, such as applause at fashion shows or punk sounds.
