Olga Cobos
... was born in Palamos, Spain. With the aid of scholarships, she studied with Carmina Ruscalleda, M. Angeles Saldana and Anna Sanchez in Barcelona. She was a member of S.O.A.P. Dance Theater Frankfurt, directed by Portuguese choreographer Rui Horta, for 6 years In 1994 she was awarded the "Grand Prix" and gold medal for best dancer at the "VI Concours International de Dance de Paris". In 1996 she was invited to join Ballet Gulbenkian in Lisbon. Here she also worked as an assistant to the Portuguese choreographer Rui Horta and Czek choreographer Jan Kodet, restaging and creating new pieces. She later also assisted Horta with his work for several other companies including the Grand Theatre de Geneve, the Stadttheater Dortmund and Ballett München. She has made films with Lutz Gregor for the German television channel ZDF and with Marcus Beherens for the programme "Traks" broadcast by ARTE. In 1999 she joined Rui Horta Stage Works. In spring 2000 she choreographed a new work in collaboration with Peter Mika for the Bratislava Dance Theater. More recently, she has danced with Russell Maliphant in London and performed chamber works with Peter Mika. As a guest teacher she's worked at the Musikschule in Frankfurt, the Iwanson Tanzschule in Munich, the Varium Dance School in Barcelona and at the Impulstanz festival in Salzburg.
