Silke Schönfeld studied liberal arts at the University of Fine Arts Münster and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Her cinematographic works oscillate somewhere between installation, staging and documentary film. In her exploration of social media and the ubiquitous flood of images, she utilizes ambiguities, questions the authenticity of moving images, and thus transports the observer to a vague area between staging and documentation. Schönfeld’s works have been exhibited internationally, including at the Folkwang Museum (Essen), as part of the Skulptur Projekten (Münster), at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, at the Building Bridges Art Exchange (Santa Monica) and at 2000 Off Space (Jerusalem).
