Jan Lauwers & Needcompany
THE DEER HOUSE
- German premiere
- Performance Dance
Following ›The Lobster Shop‹, Jan Lauwers & Needcompany return once again to PACT Zollverein with ›The Deer House‹ which successfully premiered in 2008 at the Festspiele in Salzburg. Motive and impulse behind the piece was the news of the tragic death of the brother of performer Tijen Lawton: Kerem Lawton was shot while working as a war photographer in Kosovo. The piece begins with the discovery of a fictive diary in which he tells his story. ›The Deer House‹ shifts between fairytale and tragedy, between reality and fiction: dark, gloomy and surreal, but also ironic and full of hope, Jan Lauwers & Needcompany grapple with war, death and the speechless grief of the living.
