French dancer, choreographer and singer Flora Détraz undertakes an emotional journey through an apocalyptic volcanic landscape whilst simultaneously diving into the depths of a human body that is screaming in rage, in pain, and pleasure. In doing so, she metamorphoses: at times a hallucinating soothsayer, at times an owl in the night, at other times a heavy-metal singer with a defective mike, maybe a minstrel, a clown or a futuristic oracle priestess.

›Hurlula‹ explores the sound of a primal instinct that can split apart old volcanic crust like an eruptive force from inside the body. Where does the scream come from and what happens to the body in the process? The performance is intimate and ecstatic. Flora Détraz creates a part unearthly, part enraptured, atmosphere and interrogates current codes of femininity with the aim of shattering the shackles of beauty, perfection and propriety.
