Heine Avdal & Yukiko Shinozaki asked four of their collaborators to create a portrait and show it at ›fieldworks: PORTRAIT‹. Dramaturge and dance scholar Sara Jansen, musician and sound designer Johann Loiseau, choreographer and performer Oleg Soulimenko, as well as performer and comic book artist Brynjar Åbel Bandlien were given carte blanche to create a work inspired by their experiences of working with Avdal and Shinozaki.

LECTURE

Sara Jansen: ›The object of choreography: Re- gurations of movement and writing in fieldwork’s body of work‹

This presentation will trace some of the recurring themes in fieldworks’ projects over the years. It looks specifically at how fieldworks’ practice redefines choreography by including performative acts of writing, annotation, and archiving into the work, and by expanding the notion of movement, to include the animation of objects, images, and space, the shifting of perspective, and the mobilization of spectators as participants.

PERFORMANCE

Johann Loiseau: ›The walls are talking‹

›The walls are talking‹ is a composition for an orchestra of spirits living in the venue. It will be conducted and co-performed live by Loiseau.

SONG

Oleg Soulimenko: ›I guess you want to know something, how to be a successful artist‹

›I guess you want to know something, how to be a successful artist‹ is a song, a lo-fi mini-rock opera in which Oleg Soulimenko sings about his history and personal experience of working with Avdal and Shinozaki.

COMIC

Brynjar Åbel Bandlien: ›The theatre of evolution‹

›The theatre of evolution‹ is a 12 frame comic about the work of fieldworks.
