›Computational definitions of authority, autonomy and control in blockchain - and its limits‹

  • Wed 07.11.18 20 h – 21 h

Lecture in the context of IMPACT18

Free admission

Blockchain is a technology that seeks to solve the problem of authority as articulated in network systems; DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organisations) are an attempt at autonomy from human control; decentralized architectures promise designs for freedom with coordination and interoperability features. "Authority", "autonomy", "freedom" and "control" are some concepts that underpin the reasons and aims of decentralization. While these concepts travel swiftly across technical, political, social, economic, historical and digital worlds they are operationalized and determined in very different ways.
