SPRUNGBRETT <> DANCE RESEARCH NRW is a joint project initiated by the tanz nrw festival and the NRW KULTURsekretariat to facilitate research residencies. Since 2015, they have teamed up with tanzhaus nrw and PACT Zollverein to enable young dance makers and recent graduates from art academies and universities in North Rhine-Westphalian to conduct in-depth research and development work phases. For two weeks, each selected artist or collective has access to the facilities and expertise of these two production centres. This year’s participating collectives will present their research outcomes in open studios during the festival.

Free admission, please register via: service@pact-zollverein.de

Hiraeth Kollektiv // Yasmin Fahbod, Mina Khani, Zahra Mousawy

The performers and activists Yasmin Fahbod, Mina Khani and Zahra Mousawy, who come from Iran and Afghanistan, deal in their research with the stigmatised body, the distanced body, the body in exile. As a collective, they address the fact that female Muslim perceived bodies do not have a voice and aim to give them visibility and tell their stories. By exploring the movement language and quality of bodies that have been eliminated, obscured and suppressed - and often only moved with fear - they create a narrative about bodies that are either hidden or exoticised.

iSaAc Espinoza Hidrobo, Roman Jungblut & Visiting Beings

In a cross-disciplinary research between dance, music, installation and theoretical exploration, iSaAc Espinoza Hidrobo, Roman Jungblut and Visiting Beings look at what decolonisation can mean and how differently the participants themselves are positioned within these processes: What does »Verortung« mean, what the loss of places - and how can new places be created? Under the title ›Pink Bullroarer Shelter‹, they are working on a ritual, in search of voices from different times and perspectives.
