Over the last twelve years, Random Dance, Resident Company at Sadler's Wells, has gained an international reputation for the creation of award winning works. Dedicated to innovation and quality in contemporary dance performance, Random Dance is now engaged with the intimate exploration of science and new technologies in creation, performance and outreach, with an emphasis on their interactivity with, and application to, the human body. 
Amu (of the heart) is their most ambitious, emotive and provocative collaboration to date. For Amu, the critically acclaimed choreographer Wayne McGregor with his outstanding company of dancers and in collaboration with the heart imaging specialist Dr. Philip Kilner questions both the physical functions and symbolic resonances of the human heart. Sir John Tavener will create his first commissioned original score for dance, where the heart is the centre of an inspiring musical dialogue of feeling, devotion and spirituality. For the London premiere, the score will be played live by the Southbank Sinfonia, lighting designer Lucy Carter, fashion designer Shelley Fox and visual artist Shirazeh Houshiary, join the artistic team to create an astonishing visual world for Amu.
