One day, an ice princess, a black slave girl, a rock and roll prince and three wise men who speak Chinese went to the fishmonger and the result is [AND], choreographer Grace Ellen Barkey's sixth production for the renowned Needcompany. [AND], a loose adaptation of a Persian fairytale, is an iconoclastic mixture of movement, song and language performed by an outstanding international group who have been pioneering the theatre world for over 15 years now.
"In dance, I am looking for a particular image or gesture that transcends the dance. I am more involved with that than dance itself. I question dance. I have my doubts about dance. I am looking for a particular energy and this quest is fairly violent. In the light of this, I call myself more of a painter." Grace Ellen Barkey
