How can an exhibition communicate with a district, have an impact on it and open up conversation with the people who live there?
Students of the Folkwang University of the Arts explore these and other questions in their photography and exhibition project ›DIALOGUE IN INTERMEDIATE SPACE - in exchange with Katernberg‹, which was realized in cooperation with the WerkStadt and the Arbeitskreis Kunst und Soziales.
The students have taken on the challenge of integrating art further into everyday life and viewing it as a less exclusive activity. They’ve visualized their interests in neighborhood life and their relationships to the district through photography, videos, slide projections, interactions and installations in outdoor spaces.
Beyond the exhibition, the project aims to link different planes of communication. During short presentations and open discussion rounds, the individual contributions will also be presented at the Kon-Takt community center and discussed with residents from the district and the general public.
With works by Luisa Feier, Kathleen Kayser, Simon Ringelhan, Daniel Senzek, Maksim Stamenic, Jan Sternberg, Moritz Wondrak, Jiaying Yu, Yanru Zhang, Miriam Zieglmeier.
All the works were created as part of the course ›Photography in Experiment‹ and in exchange with Prof. Gisela Bullacher.

›DIALOG IM ZWISCHENRAUM – im Austausch mit Katernberg‹ (›DIALOGUE IN INTERMEDIATE SPACE - in exchange with Katernberg‹ is a cooperation project between Prof. Gisela Bullacher / Folkwang University of the Arts, the WerkStadt, Arbeitskreis Kunst und Soziales (the art and social engagement working group) and the Kon-Takt Community Centre.
Corona safety measures: Visitors to the exhibition and events must comply with the 3G rule (vaccinated, recovered or tested).
Vaccinated: complete vaccination protection 14 days after the 2nd vaccination
Recovered: certificate dated min. 28 days and max. 90 days
Tested: Negative antigen test (max. 24 hours) or PCR test (max 48h)
