In ›Kreatur‹, Berlin choreographer Sasha Waltz explores together with 14 dancers the phenomena of human existence against the background of a torn society. Addressing themes of power and impotence, dominance and weakness, freedom and control, community and isolation, she creates shifting tableaus in which each newly composed image seems to glide seamlessly into the next.    

In symbiosis with fashion designer Iris van Herpen’s organic and technoid sculptural costumes, which fuse with their skin like shielding amour, Waltz’s dancers liken lost beings from another world, more animalistic than human.

The soundscape for ›Kreatur‹, which includes sourced sounds from Berghain Berlin and the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial, was developed by The Soundwalk Collective who notably incorporate methods of anthropology, ethnography and psychogeography in their cross-genre sound compositions.
