Raimund Hoghe
L’Après-midi

  • Thu 25.10.12 20 h

»Raimund Hoghe’s Après-midi is a Cubist painting of dance: a meditative, deliberate deconstruction and reconstruction of the famous bas-relief positions from Nijinsky’s Après-midi d’un faune that eventually causes them to overlap and superimpose themselves in the mind, reverberating with meaning, history and contained emotion.« New York Times

A remarkable solo of gestures and poses, of crystallised beauty and considered calmness created by Raimund Hoghe for Emmanuel Eggermont. Set to Claude Debussy’s ›Prélude à l’Après-midi d’un faune‹ and songs from Gustav Mahler, the French dancer superbly evokes images of Nijinsky which he adeptly varies to open up carefully composed, energetically rich and multi-referential realms of memory and contemplation.
