In the premiere of their new production, Rauf›RubberLegz‹Yasit and Brigel Gjoka unite two worlds: How can new forms of movement evolve at the interface between urban and contemporary dance? Rauf›Rubber Legz‹Yasit is an autodidact, an ›abstract b-boy‹ and choreographer, who has developed a style now entirely his own. True to his stage name ›RubberLegz‹, he is famous for transforming his body into literally inconceivable, fluid forms. Trained ballet dancer and choreographer Brigel Gjoka has toured internationally as a contemporary dancer and belonged to the Forsythe company from 2011 to 2015. Since 2014 he has been artistic director of Art Factory International in Bologna.

Moments of transformation, dialogue and contemplation emerge in an experimental duet: How can radical new concepts be imagined while still allowing space for cultural and the dancers’ own individuality? Inspiration for this new work comes from the dancers’ creative exploration during the creation of William Forsythe’s latest stage work, ›A Quiet Evening of Dance‹ (2018).

Das Projekt ist eine Kooperation von PACT Zollverein mit dem Museum Folkwang (Essen) im Rahmen von ›Konstellationen‹ und dem Bauhaus-Jubiläum in NRW. ›100 jahre bauhaus im westen‹ ist ein Projekt des NRW-Ministeriums für Kultur und Wissenschaft und der Landschaftsverbände Rheinland und Westfalen-Lippe. Schirmherrin ist Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen, Ministerin für Kultur und Wissenschaft des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen 

Im Rahmen von ›Konstellationen‹ laden das Museum Folkwang und PACT Zollverein William Forsythe ein, sein facettenreiches Schaffen in all seinen Ausprägungen zu erleben. Für das Museum Folkwang hat Forsythe eine Folge von vier installativen und choreographischen Interventionen in die Konzeption, Architektur und Vermittlung der Institution Museum entwickelt.
