Having trained at the Paris Conservatoire and P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels, the French choreographer and philosophy graduate Noé Soulier made a name for himself on the European dance scene with his piece ›Movement on Movement‹ from 2013.
In his latest production ›Removing‹ which premieres at PACT, Soulier turns his attention to a movement vocabulary which, alongside elements from the martial art Brazilian JiuJitsu, comprises actions motivated by practical goal, such as hitting, avoiding or seizing, which are however interrupted by the performers before the intension is fully accomplished. The result is a fascinating composition, interwoven with contrapuntally organized solos and duets, which triggers and explores the possibilities of kinesthetic empathy.
