As the subject of his latest work, Laurent Chétouane has chosen one of the 20th Century’s most important musical compositions:  Stravinsky’s ›The Rite of Spring‹, ever evocative of Nijinsky's original choreography and a source of inspiration to numerous other artists from Maurice Béjart to Pina Bausch. In a two part evening moving between Stravinsky's music on the one hand and a new composition by musician Leo Schmidthals, multiple award winning director and choreographer Chétouane suggests a vision for coexisting with the foreign, precisely on the basis of its alleged non-integratability: the sacrifice of the Rite of Spring as a new ritual for letting the other be.
