Laurent Chétouane
Laurent Chétouane (FR/DE), born in 1973, studied engineering in Bordeaux, Rouen, Cleveland (US) and Dortmund before studying Theatre at the Sorbonne in Paris and Theatre Directing with Hans Hollmann at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. He has directed spoken theatre productions at major German theatres including the German Playhouse in Hamburg and the Playhouse Cologne. Since 2006, Chétouane has also worked on projects with dancers. In 2008 he was awarded a Sponsorship Prize from The State of North Rhine-Westphalia for exceptional young artists working in theatre (direction, acting, voice, dance and stage design) as well as the Wild Card from the RUHR.2010 GmbH which was linked to a residency in Istanbul for his dance work ›Tanzstück # 1: Bildbeschreibung von Heiner Müller‹. Laurent Chétouane has collaborated closely with PACT Zollverein for many years. Between 2007 and 2010, PACT Zollverein co-produced and presented all four dance works in his series ›Tanzstücke‹. ›Tanzstück #1:Studie I zu Bildbeschreibung von Heiner Müller‹ as well as ›Tanzstück #3: Doppel/Solo/ein Abend‹ premiered at PACT Zollverein.His last work ›horizon(s)‹ was also presented by PACT in 2011.Laurent Chétouane teaches extensively and has been a visiting faculty member at universities in Giessen, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Leipzig and Oslo.
