In ›Things on a Table‹ choreographer Eva Meyer-Keller and artist Uta Eisenreich rearrange ordinary everyday objects on a tabletop into a series of continuously evolving assemblages. Lit and captured by a camera connected to a projector, these fleeting arrangements bring to mind associations with a range of genres from vanitas still life to contemporary commercial photography.
During the piece fragments from Gertrude Stein’s play ›Objects Lie On a Table‹ from 1922 are spoken live by artist and musician Katrin Hahner. Breaking language and viewpoint apart, Stein’s text bridges the space between the visual, the musical and the verbal and initiates a playful dynamic process of constructing and deconstructing visual meanings.
