La Ribot
Madrid born choreographer and visual artist Maria Ribot is known under the name La Ribot (ES/CH) for her award winning dance pieces that exist at the intersection of contemporary dance, live art, performance and video. From 1997 until 2004, she lived and worked in London before moving to Geneva where she lives today. In the last decade, she has developed in her renowned dance series ›distinguished pieces‹, an exacting yet humorous vocabulary of geometric concentration. This series led to ›Panoramix‹ - a meta-performance of three hours which combines all the distinguished pieces - which she presented at the Tate Modern in 2003, at the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid and at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, among others. In 2000, she was awarded the National Prize for Dance by the Spanish Ministry of culture. Her last appearance at PACT Zollverein was in the duet ›Gustavia‹ with Mathilde Monnier during the Ruhrtriennale 2009.
