Entertainment Island 1, 2 & 3 – The Trilogy

  • Sun 19.06.11 17 h

During the PACT summer festival, the group OBLIVIA, a unique force on the Finnish performance scene, presents their ›Entertainment Island‹ trilogy, created in part in residency at PACT Zollverein, for the first time in its entirety on a German stage. This minimalistic, suggestive, hilarious yet disturbing trilogy sets out to divulge and scrutinize the manifold word of entertainment and popular culture from its shiny surfaces to its darkest recesses. ›Entertainment Island 1‹ is an energetic and uncompromising take on the structures of the entertainment industry. ›Entertainment Island 2‹ looks at the sinister side of popular culture and entertainment where vulgarity and violence prevail in sensationalist news reporting and soap opera style dramas. ›Entertainment Island 3‹ reveals the dark and murky side of popular culture through a look at private adult entertainment.

The performances are part of a three year project on popular culture and entertainment which includes film, photography, seminars, workshops, talks and writings.
