During the research festival, Playful Commons - Jennifer Aksu, Gilly Karjevsky and Sebastian Quack - will realise smaller, creative "special uses" on marketplaces, green areas, traffic islands and parking bays in Essen's neighbourhood of Katernberg.

1/2/8 Urban Frictions // In Progress mit HEFT

HEFT (Ina Römling, Torben Körschkes) untersucht verschiedene Formen von Versammlungs- und Aushandlungsorten in der gebauten Umwelt. In und um PACT entwickeln sie physische Ad-hoc Strukturen aus Holz, Stoff und anderen Materialien und experimentieren mit unterschiedlichen Anordnungen und räumlichen Layouts.

1/2/8 Urban Frictions // #InProgress mit Roberto Santaguida

Roberto Santaguida möchte mit seiner Arbeit das Gefühl von Vorahnung und Erwartung, von dem die Spannung eines Dokumentarfilms abhängt, eliminieren und eine Form schaffen, die Intimität und Unmittelbarkeit begünstigt. Das geplante Projekt wird eine öffentliche gemeinsame Dokumentationsinstallation mit einer Gruppe von Menschen mit psychischen Problemen in Essen sein.

During their Residence at PACT Zollverein Enrico Ticconi and Ginevra Panzetti worked on their piece ›HARLEKING‹.

Harleking is a demon with multiple identities. His body expression resembles that of Harlequin of the Commedia dell'Arte, a sly servant moved by an insatiable hunger.

In his research project "For Morten Feldman", Halory Goerger works with light and sound designers to investigate what happens in our brain when sound creates a mental vacuum, when sound is able to establish a concept, an image, a movement.

Cyril Baldy, member of the HOOD collective, freelance choreographer and dancer, is currently in residency at PACT. 

Alma Söderberg about ›Deep Etude‹ at PACT Zollverein

In ›Deep Etude‹, the Swedish choreographer and singer Alma Söderberg develops an in-depth study of the embodiment of rhythm centring around the idea of polyrhythm. By layering recorded electronic sounds, live voice and dance, she creates a complex composition in which our perceptions of listening and viewing seem to be inextricably linked. As movement and sound exchange roles, the foreground and background shift, the dance becomes the music’s backtrack while the movement excavates the sound and brings it to the surface. ›Deep Etude‹ is a fascinating study of synergies, a composition of physical practices, a multilayered object distilled from skills.
